Give Yourself A Hand
"The foot can't see and the eye
can't walk; when the foot smells the nose is offended. And
other thoughts on the body of Christ:"
Do you remember the old black-and-white horror movie that was about a
severed hand that crawled around chasing
people? It was quite scary to this little
boy. As an adult it's a silly concept that a hand could stay
alive without the rest of the body. Or is it?
Sadly we practice a similar silliness in the church. As a
member of the body of Christ we think we don't need one
another. We don't need other parts of the body because we are
self sufficient. Or are we?
God says that He is our sufficiency and every joint supplies.
Which means for the peaceful healing power to fully flow requires every
joint to both be busy giving and receiving. Have you noticed
that the blessings that God gave us are not overwhelming and filling
our churches? Have you ever hung-out with a bunch of elbows
being kicked about by a foot? Have you
noticed the large number of feet, elbows, fists and wagging fingers out
there claiming to speak for the head. Or are they?
He said that every joint supplies. We do not have to beg Him
or squeeze Him for the supplies that He has already given.
The blessings of God flow freely when the body is connected and every
joint supplies. We need to be connected to the body of Christ
where every joint both supplies and receives. Are you a
severed hand out crawling around chasing the promises of
God?
How does one hand clap anyway?
